Need Help Figuring Out Which Toothbrush is Best? Let Us Help! The American Dental Association recommends brushing your teeth twice daily, but people often struggle to determine the best toothbrush for them. There are many different options out there so it is easily to get overwhelmed in finding the correct toothbrush. Depending on the type of brush you get, there are specific features to which you need to pay attention. Our dental health professionals can also guide you through the process.

Electric

There are many different varieties of toothbrushes available, but most people choose to use a basic electric or manual toothbrush. These each have pros and cons so it does really come down to personal preference. However, there are some important characteristics to note. Electric toothbrushes are easily to use if you have limited mobility. They also have timers, help to reduce waste, improve your focus and overall oral health, and are safe and fun to use for all ages. The downside to these is that they are quite expensive and the heads or batteries can be difficult to replace. Because it is automatic, you may also put less effort into cleaning and, therefore, end up with more plaque than you would with a manual toothbrush.

Manual

This is the most common type of toothbrush that people use. They are easy to find and very cost effective. But, these do require more effort on your part to keep your teeth clean. You will need to make sure you clean every tooth and brush for the correct amount of time, meaning you will need to find your own way to time yourself. It is also common that people brush their teeth too hard with these, damaging the gums. So, manual toothbrushes are better for people that are very meticulous about their dental hygiene.

Whatever type of toothbrush you use, you should get one with soft bristles so that they do not irritate the gums. Call us for more recommendations on toothbrushes.
